CERTIFICATION
SAFETY OF PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX is an independent and uniform international control and certification system for raw materials, semi-finished and finished products in the textile sector at every level of processing, as well as for the accessory materials used. The main purpose of the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX is the development of verification criteria, limit values and scientifically based test methodologies, to ensure high and effective product safety from the consumer point of view. Verification criteria and limit values are far more demanding than nationally and international parametersGizeta Calze, thanks to product certification based on STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, ensures a high standard.
THE RECYCLING AND GRS CERTIFICATION
Gizeta Calze is certified GRS (Global Recycle Standard): the most important international standard for the sustainable production of garments and textile products made with recycled materials. The Global Recycle Standard is promoted by Textile Exchange, one of the most important international non-profit organizations for responsible and sustainable development in the textile sector. The standard recognizes the importance of recycling for the growth of a sustainable production and consumption model, with the aim of promoting the reduction of resource consumption (virgin raw materials, water and energy) and increasing the quality of recycled products. The Standard provides for the release of an environmental declaration verified by a third party that ensures the content of recycled materials of their products, both intermediate and finished, the maintenance of traceability throughout the entire production process, restrictions on the use of chemicals and compliance with environmental and social criteria in all phases of the production chain from the recycling of materials, to the subsequent manufacturing phases, up to the labeling of the finished product.
The company, in addition to the use of recycled material in the manufacture of products, has implemented a series of initiatives in terms of recycling to support production.
Office paper, which is selected and reused in administrative and production offices for printing technical and miscellaneous data sheets. The production cardboard, which is used for a percentage of 10% to support containers of technical data sheets, folders, and containers for the storage of samples and administrative materials and partly as a temporary warehouse for semi-finished products. In addition, with regard to recycling, monitoring is scheduled from 2021 with appropriate registration if necessary. For Urban Waste, the organization raises awareness among workers with an annual communication by e-mail and posting on the bulletin board for the correct subdivision of separate waste collection. The paper for drying hands has been replaced with electric towels with a significant reduction in paper consumption.
Then the company uses “fabric bags” in the knitting department, which replace the plastic bags, used to contain production socks.
The fabric bags allow them to be used for multiple continuous process activities, from knitting to sewing department. At the end the bags are re-folded in the production phases, in order to making the most of the external recycling market

DETOX & ZDHC
The ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) is an international program born from Greenpeace’s DETOX campaign to eliminate hazardous chemicals from the textile sector.
Gizeta Calze has joined the ZDHC Program, committing itself to developing tools for an increasingly careful management of chemical products, a control of production processes and discharges into the environment and also promoting training activities.
The company first invested to obtain the Detox certification for the dyeing plant (IPE), then moved on to the ZDHC certification process.
This commitment is confirmed in the exclusive choice of suppliers for external dyeing processes which are certified according to this program.
HIGG FACILITY ENVIRONMENTAL MODULE (HIGG. ORG – SUSTAINABLE APPAREL COALITION)
In 2016 Gizeta also joined the HIGG INDEX of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, as member-manufacturer of various brands adhering the same initiative.
Gizeta Calze adopts and undergoes self-assessment according to the criteria of the Higg Index, a tool of measurement tools for the textile, clothing and footwear sectors to measure social and environmental impacts.
The Higg Facility Environmental Module (Higg FEM) is a sustainability assessment tool that standardizes how facilities measure and evaluate their environmental performance, year over year.
The Higg FEM is designed to:
• Measure and quantify the sustainability impacts of a facility
• Reduce redundancy in measuring and reporting sustainability performance
